New AR Torq Thrust Wheels and Pirellis are on...
I started this project last November by ordering American Racing Torq Thrust IIs (model CL205) in a custom built 6" width as per the stock ralleys. They arrived 9 weeks after the order. I took guidance from Duke Williams of NCRS re the choice of tire: Pirelli 215-70ZR/15s (thanks Tire Rack!). I have been busy since the car came out of storage last Friday but today was the day to finish off the project. There was a minor glitch yesterday as the wheels caught a touch of the calipers in front. A set of 3mm (1/8") spacers was ordered and they did the trick. So here is the end result. It is a more aggressive look than the ralleys with whitewalls but my initial reaction is that I like it. The spinners may be a bit much but I do have the standard AR caps as well. We shall see.
*Edit*-Here is the more sedate boulevard cruiser look.

Thanks! This is the car I was trying to emulate but there is no white stripe, side-pipes or BB in the future ;) .

Thanks George,
Came home in a rainstorm from the shop. Had time to clean up one wheel and tire.

 Great looking car and wheels. Ouestion; Did you paint the spokes or did they come that way? The AR TTs that I have on my 77 have lighter colored spokes than yours. Got mine about a year and a half ago.

How is the ride on the Pirelli's?

I only drove about 10 miles today in that rain to test the balancing so I cannot really comment on the Pirelli ride. I will do so in future. They are Z-rated tires so they should be good.

You are right: they come grey from the factory. That was not to my liking so I painted the spokes with black Plasti-Kote 900F degree Brake Caliper Paint. Initially I thought it had too much of a glossy finish but that does make clean-up much easier.

MotorHead,
You know me. I will deviate somewhat from the original but not far. Taking off the ralleys was a stretch for me! BTW, my congrats to the Maple Leafs!
