Pitman arm nut
I'll be pulling my steering box out and apart this weekend. I still don't have air tools...will I have trouble removing that massive nut on the pitman arm? I have the puller to remove the arm from the shaft, I'm just spooked by that huge nut!

Re: Pitman arm nut (Grinchia)
Don't be afraid obe one......(in Yoda voice)..
Spray it with PB Blaster let it soak. Get large wrench. Undo nut. At least with those big nuts you can get a good grip of them, they are almost impossible to strip.
Good lcuk.

Re: Pitman arm nut (stingry)
I've got the PB Blaster armed and ready :D
I need to buy an extra-huge socket, my set doesn't go that high. I'll try a breaker bar and 4' pipe...

Re: Pitman arm nut (Jughead)
I believe the the nut is 1-5/16. I bought a $35 3/4 drive set, made in the new mfg capital of the world..China.
I use the sockets for all kinds on press jobs and the nut on the boxes. I also have several pullers and the one that works the best is the $7.00 large pitman arm puller. I use an impact gun with it though so you'll need a pipe extension to break it loose.
