Engine running a little rough. Cause??
Thought for sure the problem was a so-so lobe on the cam, but after freshening up the engine (rings, cam, valvetrain, heads) runs about the same as before. I've also swapped out the carb a few times (started with 650 DP but never could get an air cleaner to fit right, so I just put on a 600 with vacuum secondaries), new distributor (although it's a no-name one), also have new plugs, wires, etc. Cam is mild, just a step above stock, and I have 1.6 roller tips. I'm leaning toward the spark end of things, but would really like some input. Regards.

Have you done any tuning to the carb(s)? You can't just slap those suckers on usually. I believe there's a tool to check for spark? I want to say just pull it off and see if it jumps to nearby metal, but that sounds dangerous.

Re: Engine running a little rough. Cause?? (LiveandLetDrive)
I'm not concentrating on the carb since I haven't really seen a change with the original carb nor with the other two. The DP I went through and put it back to stock specs before running it, current vacuum secondaries one is new and I haven't done anything to it yet. Condition is noticable mostly at idle & part throttle. WOT appears to be ok, but it's a little more difficult for me to tell. I'm planning on rechecking my initial & total timing, & pull the plugs to see if I see anything there. I'd appreciate any other ideas. Regards.
