Hey Farley, hope you heal up soon!!!
Some of you may not know but Rob Farley (89NYFINEST) underwent surgery on Friday. They did not get the expected result they wanted and will be doing some additional tests to determine if they need to go back in. The doctors feel that he at his age the problem is treatable (hope I got this right). He is expected back home today so let's give him a warm welcome back.

Re: Hey Farley, hope you heal up soon!!! (REDGAR)
Hello everyone. Thank you for the thoughts. Mackey - Yes, the drugs are great. J.P. Don't worry, I will be back and in rare form. Edgar - Excellent job -Thanks.
This is just a small bio of what is going on. For over 16 months I have had a growth in my left lung. as a result of this, I am always sick with a cold. Just recently the growth (Mass) has out grown my lung. The mass was pushing on the wall of my lung causing pain on my left side as if I pulled a muscle on my rib. The surgeon told me that he did not know if he was going to remove the lower lobe of the left lung or take pieces out for a biopsy. Since the lower lobe is not working now. If it looks like cancer they will do what they need to do.
My wife told me after surgery that the doctor removed two samples (Dr called it wedges) each the size of a golf ball. But, Not all of the mass was removed. The doctor told me later that he never saw anything like this before. This was not the surgeons first surgery. It appeared to be a combination of different growths. I was told after my second biopsy that this was the result of injesting a fungal bacteria that would be found at a construction site or work sites. Not from household fungas. The fungas lodged in my lung and just grew. Since I worked at the World Trade Center site for six months. I am assuming that I picked this up from there. I hope to have the results of the biopsy on 4-21-04.
I am walking with a cane. I can only say three words at a time because I get out of breath. If I don't take a break and push it, I hyper ventilate. Walking 20 feet is a project. I am told that I will need to recover for 4 to 6 weeks. Then I will need therapy and treatment depending on what the biopsy results are. There is also a chance that they will have to go back in again. The most pain was from a chest tube that was inside of me. A incesion was made between my ribs for the tube to be fed through and looped aroung to a certain area of my lung. This was to drain the fluid that was between my lung and the lung wall (Which was about 1/2 gallon). The length of the tube that was inside of me was about 18 inches long by 3/8. The tube was left in for over three days. This hurt, I could not move, cough, sneeze because of this tube.
Word to the wise, If you think you are having a problem, GO to the DOCTOR. Dont put it off.
OH, I am sure someone is asking themself this question. If I am unable to race my car, I will have a someone drive it for me.
Thanks again,
I will keep everyone posted

Everyone...
I spoke to Rob last night, right after Edgar made the 1st post.....
He sounds good! I hope everything goes smooth from here on out, and will let you know how he's doing as I plan to be talking to him every now & then, since we have become friendly since racing at Aiken SC & seeing each other at E-town..
Rob & I key each other up on our Nextel's, so Rob, as you're reading this, don't forget to key me up ANYTIME!

Re: Hey Farley, hope you heal up soon!!! (REDGAR)
The doctor called us today with an update to the pathology testing. I do not have cancer and the mass is granulomos. The lab will grow the sample so they can find out more about it as to how it can be treated, what it consist of, long term effect and so on. They are also going to do a stain test and some other tests to find out more. The results from growing the mass could take weeks. The doctor still stands behind the theory that this was ingested at a work site or construction zone. I will have to wait for all the tests to be completed.
Again - Thanks for all the thoughts and offers.
