door handle replacement
OK... I feel dumb. Once the door panel's off, what else needs to be removed to get access to where the outer door handle assembly is? The plastic anti-theft plate is in the way, but I don't see how there's enough space to remove it. Space is tight in there! Any suggestions will be much appreciated. :)

I've been there, first cut off your thumb and index finger, wait until you stop bleeding,(just kidding), this job takes the right wrench and lots of patience( wish I had spell check but you know what I mean) a magnet on hand will be helpful just take your time and you will make out fine. Good luck :D

After you remove the two screws that hold the plastic piece just let it slide down the inside of the door. You can retrieve it later with a screwdriver and a long needle nose pliers. With it out of the way you will have to disconnect the outside handle rod from the latch. Then remove the 2 nuts and out comes the handle. Good Luck, Craig

Thanks for the tips.... Hopefully I can get this done this next weekend so I can open that driver's side door from the outside again. :)

If you can't get to the rear nut that holds the handle in the door, unbolt the latch mechanism with 3 slot head screws/bolts. The latch will drop down and make it easier to reach the handle nuts. You can also disconnect and attach the linkage rod from the latch to the handle this way.

The front nut is no problem but that pesky rear one is a real biatch. I actually enlarged the opening by about an inch just so I could get to it. Good luck :smash:
