Default Electric doorlock question.

While replacing my drivers door lock, (a great PITA) I could hear electrical "clicking" from the console area while pressing the contacts/spring/keeper/pawl/circlip with my dislocated right hand. By the time I finally had everything connected....no clicking and no power doorlock actuation. Previous to this endeavor I could hear a similar clicking when I manually depressed the door open switches for the courtesy light, which of course dosn't (light).
As far as I can tell the fuses are not blown, Is there any solid state device/electrical gizmo in the console area that is connected to the door locks?
I am able to lock/unloack my doors manually, but would like it to work right.
Cheers
