HOW DO YOU TELL
How do you tell the differance from a tall BB, and the normal BB.
If im correct, they call them TALL BLOCKS. This 454 came out of
a 77 GMC pick up. :seeya

Tall decks are either after market blocks, or they came out of huge chevy trucks C-60's, and they were 427's. I think that is something around a 3 ton. so if it was a pickup, it's a standared block

Look at the water pump mounting holes, standard Decks are within 1/2" of the top of the deck where the tall decks are way further below. Get yourself a book on Big Block motors and see for yourself. The Tall deck will have BIG problems with the power brake booster in a Vette engine compartment.

OK, kewl then, I have a normal block, the top deck is close to the water pump
the truck was a 1 TON or 3/4 TON not sure, but it had 8 lugs. :seeya
