Wow. I've never heard of it. I'd like to hear the opinions of some of our NCRS guys. Borowski? You out there?

Odd, all the books I have read say none were produced. However, some of the GM documents (manuals, etc..) showed the LS-7 as an option. So they must have been very close to production; that would entail a pre-production mule... Still, I'd vote :bs .

Ok, quick search reveals one mule
"Corvette built only one car with the LS7 engine. The editor of Sports Car Graphic drove it for 2500 miles and found it did the quarter mile in 13.8 seconds at 108 mph. GM cancelled the option even though the LS7 option is listed in some early 1970 sales literature. None were ever sold."

If true, this is a one of a kind, GM non-production car: priceless?

Went and dug through the books. No evidence of even a mule. It'a a :bs flag on the play.

If it's an original LS-7, who put the M/T covers and aftermarket intake on it? Heck, if it's that cool, run it across the block at a real auction. That always seperates the poseurs from the real deal.

Heck I would call up GM and they would probably offer more than anyone else. :)

He doesn't claim it came from the factory with the LS-7 engine. His story is that an LS-7 "kit" was installed after it came to the dealer. I think he is claiming it was ordered with the kit, and the kit was installed after delivery. If you could document that.... then maybe... maybe it has some collector value. Otherwise it's just another bigblock with aftermarket parts. MJ

Dealer installed kit? I don't remember that option! Even the L88's came from the factory complete.

Another urban legend up for sale.

You could buy the ls-7 over the counter from any dealer. User installed or user upgraded to ls7 specs

Exactly. It was most likely a LS-5 car and then they bought a LS-7 crate engine and swapped it out. There's no collector value. If they saved all the LS-5 parts and could return it to 100% stock it might fetch $25k-$30k on a good day. As it sits, about $5k less.

:iagree:

It doesn't sound like he's trying to claim the car is anything that it isn't. Still though it's a nice looking car, but there's no way it's going to pull that kind of coin. It's also been repainted (badly).

Could it possibly be an original LS-6 'vette? If it is & it's got some of the original LS-6 components to come with the sale...then the 75k could kinda make sense...maybe?

Nope. No AC with LS-6. It was either a small block or a LS-5.

:bs The engine tells the real story ! :bs

Checkout the 'custom' 1-of-a-kind air cleaner - not factory
Mickey Thompson valve covers ???
The intake is NOT from an LS-7 it's some type of Xclerator aftermarket.

"It was then taken to a NASCAR engine shop...."
Yeah.....taken to a speed shop which displayed Nascar stickers on it's front door !   :lolg:

To get that kind of $money$ you need to be 98% original.
This is NOT a Bloomington Gold car.......maybe Bloomington Copper :jester

I think the owner is seriously mis-informed and cooked up some :bs to try and sound like a car expert.
