I have installed a set of seats from a 79 in my 77 - I like the seats, but the seat backs lay back just a little too far for my taste. Are there any add-on bumpers that allow for the seat back adjustment?

You would have to add shims to the rear seat track mounting points to be able to tip the seat back more forward. There are NO factory adjustments for this.

I did a combination of two things - I took a 2 foot piece of 3/8 fuel line and split one side lengthwise, and then placed it on the back of the bottom seat shell. I also placed 1/2" spacers under both of the rear seat attachment points. Together, this changed the seat back angle to where I wanted them, without losing too much headroom.

I just use a small towel rolled up under the seat back when I need adjustment...............LT

Sure you can adjust the seat back, just buy the optional electric motor that adjusts the seat in 4 directions. I guess I am one of the few lucky '81 owners with a working electronic adjustable seat?

That won't work on a 77. The floor pan on 81 & 82s with power driver's seat is deeper.

My wife sat in the vette for the first time and said it was impossible to drive it unless the seat was ajusted forward and up. I could not do this. I have been trying to solve this problem but have not figured out the best solution. I thought maybe a towel behind the lower back also. She is a short women of 5ft 1". I have the seat almost all the way forward and I am 5ft 9".

Buy her a C6, that will quiet her down.


You might check out the archives for folks putting C5 and C4 seats in the a C3. Some of the seats cramped drivers that were tall. Sounds like what you need.

There is something that you might want to look for. My seat was leaning back farther than the passenger seat. After spending too many hours playing with the hinges, thinking that was the problem, I looked under the bottom seat. The seat back and bottom was cracked and bubba drilled new holes for the hinges. Moving the hinges was causing the seat to lean to far back. I had to spend way too much money on a new seat bottom from one of our favorite vendors. :cuss After buying the new seat bottom, my wife (who is 5'2" tall) actually drove it once and it is a 4 speed, until she slid sideways into a ditch.

You might want to check out the condition of the seat back and bottom. Maybe they are cracked. Just a thought.
