Need help with a t-56 installation
I am installing a t-56 into my 78. I am using the hydraulic unit that is for a Camaro and it is the push type master slave combination. It is sold as a complete assembly and it appears to be pre bled and ready to install. My problem is that the braided line is about 1 inch too short. Is there a way to lengthen the braided line and then bleed the master and slave cylinder? I do not see any fittings to allow the unit to be bled. HELP

Wow, mine is the perfect length. Your going to have to take it to a hose fabrication shop and have them make it longer. Bleeding it is not big deal.
Push pedal to floor and have someone open the valve. Close valve and then release pedal. Repeat this about 20 times and don't forget to add fluid every three bleeds.
Good luck.

Budman, when you put the LS1 in your car did you have to move the engine forward or does it sit in the stock position of the small block. My line is about 1 inch too short. I have two assemblies and both are the same length. The bleed screw that you are talking about, is that the screw on the reservoir? Thanks for the help.

Yep the motor is about 3 to 4 inchs from the firewall. The bleeder screw is the higher outlet in the slave. It is 7/16" socket size. The tube can be removed from the master by pushing the roll pin out. You could probably just eliminate the pressure connector in the line and have a complete line made. The pressure connector is only there to drop the trans. Just leave yourself an extra 6 inches to install the slave.

Roger,
Are you using the LS1 style T56 with the slave inside the bellhousing or the LT1 version with an external slave? This could be the difference between yours and Buddy's and mine. Ours uses a slave that is a collar aroiund the input shaft and only has a line coming from the bellhousing to the master.

Re: Need help with a t-56 installation (70 LS1)
It is the LT-1 version mounted external to the bellhousing. I see no bleeder screws or fittings on the slave or master to bleed the system if I take it apart and lengthen the hose.

Sorry, I thought you were trying to retro fit a LS1 version. Not sure about those. You may want to try the C-4 section.

Thanks, I did as you suggested. I hope that hter is a way to bleed the system. Does the LS1 clutch use a push or pull type of clutch diaphragm?
