Default Another rear spring question

I'm in the middle of replacing my 1980 rear 9 leaf steel spring with a new 9 leaf spring and noticed that the end connecting link bolts were heavily scored. If I replace them can I use the OE replacement bolts or should I get longer bolts (eg. 8")?
As a side note my GM dealership wanted CA$37.00 for each bolt. WOW.
Thanks

Wherever you buy your bolts, make certain that they are grade 8. Softer steel bolts are likely to fail.

5/8 grade 8 are much more commonly available, are stronger and considerably cheaper. You just need to drill out the hole on top of the swing arm and enlarge the hole in the bushings a mite. I went with 9" to give myself some adjustment but have an inch to spare so 8" would have worked.
