Cheer for me guys! I FINALLY have a C3!!!!!!!!!
My first actual LOVE of Corvettes was when I was in High School. I LUSTED for a BB Stingray. Then life went on... I later bought an '86 Corvette, then a '94, and later a '98. None of them really "Did it" for me though. I reclaimed my first, the '86, a few years ago and have had it since. But every time I'd see a C3, I just ached.
Well, about 10 hours ago, I picked up a red '73 454. (!!!) To say that I'm thrilled is quite an understatement.
So stand by guys. Although I've spent a good amount of time with the C4's & C5, the C3 is a whole new animal to me. Stupid questions are sure to follow as I start to "correct" the little flaws that exist.
Patience with me please,
Tom

First, let me say congrats!!! I only wish my other half would have let me put $1000 on a c/c to get a '74 BB shipped from Cal. I ended up with what you see below but I'm not disappointed. This is a fantastic site full of information. Have fun with your new TOY, I am.

Tell us a little more about it. What kind of options? What color? Sounds like you are pretty excited about it!!! Fire away with all the questions you want, someone here has been there and done that I am sure at one point or another and all are willing to help.
Congrats on the new ride.

Not sure how to post a picture here. I've tried it a few times, but without success. I don't have any web space from my ISP and I've tried to link to some free sites, but I'm an internet-moron.
The car was originally dark green, but along the line someone changed it to red. A VERY good color change, I might add. Door jambs, hood lines, all was blown in very well to look factory.
It's got the (I think) dark saddle interior which is in need of some TLC. The PO put new correct seat covers/foam in and they are in excellent shape. Someone replaced the standard door panels with the deluxe (?) panels. Fortunately, they are in crappy shape and I'll be swapping standard panels back in.
Drivetrain wise, the PO was a fanatic. He worked at a G.M. dealership and he rebuilt EVERYTHING! Engine, trans, & suspension are all like new. He even powder coated all the suspension components. He went a little crazy on the engine. Higher compression pistons, fatter rods, G.M. performance aluminum heads, full roller rockers, blah, blah, blah. He was turning 12:20's & 12:40's with it. The 12:20's came with 1:72 roller tip rockers, but when he switched to 1:70 full rollers, he dropped to 12:40's. I suspect that the engine would like more cam lift.
There are a few holes on the body where someone had once installed aftermarket mirrors on the doors. The PO put the correct mirror back on the drivers door, but hadn't filled the small holes from the incorrect mirrors. Also, someone in the past had mounted the "Stingray" emblem on the drivers side about an inch too high and an inch too far forward. The PO put it back in the correct location, but again, left the three small holes from the previous incorrect placement. Nothing that can't be fixed with relative ease.
I could go on forever, but you get the idea. I lucked out in being able to buy from a fanatic. Lots of incorrect things to fix, but nothing scary.
If someone would care to put a picture up for me, chime in.
