I'm an owner of an 80 L-48.
But don't ask me any questions about my exhaust. I'm 4' of tubing away from running open headers at the moment.

I have a 79, same exhaust system, Y pipe up front, back to converter and then another Y pipe into two mufflers and two tail pipes. Stock configuation.

Count me in....all stock here too except radio and the black paint on the windshield/t-tops trim, previous owner removed them both.

I have one too with the stock exhaust. Brad, how do you like the MAD dual set-up? Looks like it bolts right in. Any difference in driving?

I purchased the stainless steel version (fall '03) and it took a bit of fiddling to get everything to line up. What i did find was the left side just wouldn't go together. The center piece that replaces the cat was 3" too short, had to have a muffler shop cut a longer piece and it finally went together. If i had used the piece that MAD sent with the kit the left side would not have cleared the tire.
Overall i believe that it did offer a performance improvement (placebo effect?) as it just seems faster. Next step is to have it welded together to eliminate all the clamps.
I called MAD and they indicated that all their kits use a 20" piece for the 2 center sections. I just couldn't get it to fit correctly without using a 23" piece for the left.

I'm runnin' 2 1/2" pipes, a pair of about 18" long glasspacks, loud as heii, did it locally and way cheaper that the purchased stuff...

I have an 80 L-48, I have done a few mods. It currently has Dyno-Max 1-5/8in headers with a 3in collector outlet, true duals custom bent by local exhaust shop. And a pair of Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. I like the way it sounds, especially at 4000 rpms and up.
