Classic Car Insurance
Does anybody in the Massachusetts area have a good recommendation for classic car insurance? I currently have my 1969 convertible insured for about $700 per year. I would assume that there are more reasonable rates out there for these classic cars in Mass. Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
Jim

Try AON, less restrictions and a decent price. Don't know if it's available in MA.

Just did my '69 Vert with AON Collector Car Insurance.
Did $30K agreed upon value with max'd out coverages for $153 / year. No milage limits, no use limits (other than racing), and no pictures or appraisals needed.

Re: Classic Car Insurance (OHSIXX)
I just put in my 69 vert for an online quote and it came back $25. less than what I pay now with Hagerty.
$130... Anyone ever had a claim with hese guys? For $20, I'm not sure I want to test the waters of uncertainty..

I have not heard of AON before but their rates sure look good. How many of you guys are using them and are there any stories, good or bad. Thanks, Craig

Just got AON myself.
They just approved me and said I would get my policy and paperwork in 7-10 days.
188 a year.
15K value and maxed the coverages.
I think the values vary depending on your state and the associated laws.

Hagerty. I had a claim with them 1-1/2 years ago, they mailed a check the same day I faxed the estimate. Only one estimate required. I have also used their Protection Network twice in 1-1/2 years, most recently today when I threw a rod through the block and oil pan. $15 per year for up to 3 free tows. Paid for itself two years in a row, I'll never be without it again.

Check with your state's insurance regulator. If they've had problems with a particular company before they'll be able to tell you. If they have too many complaints they can yank the company's rights to do business in your state.
You pay these people with your tax dollars so you might as well take advantage of their services. I've had good luck with Michigan's insurance regulators.

My regular insurance agent recommended them. Never had a claim, but they are very reasonable and DO NOT have an attendence policy so you can leave it in a parking lot.

Re: Classic Car Insurance (AnthonyLT1)
EDIT: The underwriters didn't approve of that agreed value. They also think I drive the car too much and plan to drop me next year.
I just called Aon. I am thrilled! They offer agreed value AND I can still drive the car :)
They quoted over the phone $396 per year for $35,000 agreed value. I think I will sign up ASAP.
Thanks,
~Jay

I've got American Collectors for $168/yr with max coverage and $25K agreed value. No restrictions on mileage, etc. I may call them and increase the value soon. Prices on C3s seem to be increasing lately.

Re: Classic Car Insurance (70L46Conv4Sp)
I was denied coverage today by AON. We go back & forth between CA & KS. Our primary residence is in CA, so our driver's licenses are in CA. But my cars are mostly in KS. They won't write insurance unless the DL's and car registrations are from the same state. DOH!
BUT, they DID have great rates. Once we finish the back & forth stuff and land in the Midwest full-time, I'm calling them back.

I have just recieved my package from American Collectors. I got 10K on the restored '78 El Camino and 15K on the Modified '80 Vette, 300K coverage for $274 per year.
I'm very happy with this new coverage and I get 3K miles per vehicle per year. More than I usually use. Jim

Re: Classic Car Insurance (PROSOUTH)
Well, it turns out that being denied by AON wasn't such a bad thing after all. I TOTALLY forgot that I had State Farm insure another "Classic" for me a few years back. I called my agent and insured the Corvette with a $22k value, 500/500 deductables and no mileage restrictions other than being specified as an "occasional driver" for $70.00 every 6-mos.
