Default Anyone familiar with the STOP LIGHT SWITCH? (78 Pace Car)

My brakes lights would not go out a while back and I reached up under the dash to check the stop light switch. It did not feel like anything was holding it and I pulled it down. The switch works when the plunger is pushed in and out. I disconnected it so it would not run the battery down.

Now I'm trying to put it back in and have no idea how it goes in. Here is a picture of it. Someone has wrapped electrical tape around the switch, over what looks like threads. Is this switch supposed to have threads or some kind of a nut on it for adjustment? (Manual says "if so equipped")

Does anyone have a picture of this switch properly in place?...I searched the net; but found nothing.

This is what the service manual says. (I assume the A-B-F-X-Y is body codes and the Y is the Corvette?)
STOP LIGHT SWITCH
A Models...

B-F-X-Y Models

The stop light switch is mounted on a flange or bracket protruding from the brake pedal support.
1. Release the brake pedal to its normal position.
2. Adjust switch by turning it in or out as necessary electrical contact should be made when the brake pedal is depressed: .38 - .64” (F-X Models) 14mm (B models) or .25 - .64” (Y Models) from its fully released position.
3. Tighten Switch Locknut, if so equipped, and connect electrical harness.

You need a new one, their cheap. There is a clip missing from yours. You plug it in, slid the switch in and down onto the brake pedal and that's it. Bubba put the electrical tape on the threads of your switch. The threads are what holds the switch in place.

So does it slide in and then a clip slide in from the side, or does a nut screw on the threads?

You put the one way stop clip on the little bracket, and slid the switch down til the stop plunger turns off the stop lights. Very very simple.

I told you they were cheap. Once you see the kit, you'll see it takes two minutes to install and adjust. You have to lay down on your right shoulder and look up to see the bracket.:chevy
