Default Resource for explaining the physics of timing

O.k. I have read Lars' paper on proper timing, and I think I understand how to do this, but what I don't understand is what's REALLY going on physically with my engine when I'm doing this.

I like to get very detailed when it comes to understanding the mechanics and underpinnings of things. I want to actually understand what's going on here. Some of the terminology I just don't "GET" if you know what I mean. I want to know the details and the physics of everything. I understand this may be mechanics 101 layman stuff, but I've not had to get this detailed before. If I have to learn some of the basics, I welcome it.

Any resource would help, Web, books, etc...

Thanks!

:nono: I just got my latest edition of DR. Jacobs from Summit $20. They did have to back order it for me - couple months. And you will want your own copy for reference. :yesnod:
