Default Spreader bar on a '78

Thinking of adding a spreader bar on a '78. No visible chasis weld defects yet. Will a bar help to prevent future weld failures etc. Where's the best place to get a bar? I've read that some don't fit very well. Comments, suggestions?
Thanks

Default Re: Spreader bar on a '78 (MGB)

VB or Guldstrand are the suppliers
Metal fatigue failures I have experienced would not have been prevneted by a spreader. It does stiffen up the front end a great deal.
Fit varies per vehicle. Get the unit that requires welding and get it done right.
