Default Need Some Good Sources for Rebuilt, Seasoned 355 SBC Short-Block

I'm shopping around in preparation for the potential rebuild of my short block. Not being an engine builder, I would prefer to avoid doing all of the ripping/building myself. I'm fairly competent once the short block is assembled as I have performed replacement of heads, intake, distrib, pan, carb, etc.

I'm interested in (no more than) a .030 over 350 (355ci) or a 383 stroker motor with the following attributes:
Right-hand dipstick
cast (or forged) crankshaft
2 or 4-bolt mains
Clevite/Michigan 77 bearings
powdered metal (or LT1/LT4) 5.7" rods
9:1 CR Hypereutectic pistons (measured with 76cc heads and std composite head gaskets; .041 compressed thickness)
Minimal deck re-surface (to allow my use of standard length pushrods and my stock clearance intake/cylinder heads).

My plans are to install the following 'new' parts:
Mellings High-Vol Oil Pump
Crane Energizer 272 H10 Hydraulic cam/lifters
Stock length (preferred) Pushrods and 1.6 ratio rocker arms
Fel-Pro gaskets with #1205 Intake gaskets

My used:
Edelbrock Performer intake
DART Iron Eagle 180cc intake port, 72cc chamber, 2.02/1.60 valve, straight plug heads
Lars-rebuilt q-jet
Accel Perf HEI
Heddman headers
Oil Pan

Short-block engine source recommendations welcome! :seeya

Ted,

Give Dave Deegan a call at the Engine Lab of Tampa ((813) 630-2422). http://www.enginelaboftampa.com

Great guy and he has an unreal workshop. Take the tour and you will send him your engine. I drove down there after talking to him on the phone.

If he cannot build you an engine I am sure that he can find you a block or two, or three.

Cheers,

Pete
