Need GM Part Number help for oil filter bypass
I need a GM part number or aftermarket source for the part that bolts into the oil filter area that the oil filter filter spins onto. I have a 454 block but I think this part is the same for all chevy blocks???? Also, what is the proper name for this part?? Thanks

Re: Need GM Part Number help for oil filter bypass (Mr D.)
I went with a summit adaptor without the bypass, no sense sending unfilter oil into the eng.

Re: Need GM Part Number help for oil filter bypass (Fevre)
I agree with Fevre, I don't use the bypasses either. They do send unfiltered oil through your engine when the engine is cold (thick oil)
I do however used long style filters so there's no chance of the case cracking. I stepped up to Wix HP6 style filters

Re: Need GM Part Number help for oil filter bypass (Twin_Turbo)
My engine didn't have one either when I bought it. Went to a salvage yard and got one for $5.00. If the spring is still able to move freely, it's still good. Just about all Chevy engines use this by pass system so it should be easy to find.

AC DELCO sells the long style filter under a new part number PF1812.
They are about $3.50 at parts stores.
