Default 71 Dash Pad

Looking for a little advice...while I have my interior torn apart I figure I should replace the upper dash pad and possibly the lower ones as well. I've seen dash pads for the 70's go for $399 and above! I found two sellers on ebay (70stingray and Willcox Wholesale Corvette) that are lots cheaper. 70stingray wants $299 and Willcox wants $275. Anyone know anything about these sellers? Or is there a better place to buy interior parts from? Thanks! I've enjoyed the forum so far! :D

I don't recall ever purchasing from Willcox, but they've been around for several years if that means anything. I'm sure they all get the dash pads from the same supplier.

If you buy one, please post to let us all know what kind of quality it is.

I got an upper dashpad about 5 years ago from willcox. I remember them having two quality levels and I got the better quality. Believe it was $299. It was made by corvette america and the quality was outstanding. Actually fit better than the factory one and the color (saddle) was perfect.

I have ordered from Wilcox before (not off of ebay, but on the phone).

I was satisfied with service and the products

Thanks for the input! I'll probably go with Willcox since it's a reputable company and cheaper anyway. I'll let you know how the quality is when I order it.

I've also seen the cheaper dash covers for around $99. I would assume these are pretty cheesy and not worth the money. Any opinions on those?

I have seen the thin covers for $99. They glue over your cracked pad.
Ecklers (I think) has these. They can come out looking fine, but IMO they
are overpriced. $100 for a thin sheet of molded plastic ?

On the dash cover subject ... there are two flavors. A cover and a skin. Search my previous posts on my experiances using CA's replacement skin product.

My recommendatino ... call CA about their NQP replacement pads. Blemishes are rarely noticable and they are sold at a huge discount to first quality.

look at corvettesacrossamericadotcom , and check their NQP (notquiteperfect) section , usually much cheaper and very small imperfections.

Thanks for all the input guys! Looking at Corvettesacrossamerica, the NQP dash would suit me just fine. Especially since the rest of my car is not quite perfect! Thanks to Bubba. :mad I'll let y'all know when I purchase one and how it looks.

Order from Corvette America via their 800 number. Ask the sales guy to have the pad brought up to his desk and he'll personally eyeball it for you and describe the defect They are very accomodating.

If you don't like the way it looks after you get it shipped ... you can still return it via their standard return policy.

I paid $99 for a 69 Top Dash Pad that I (and the Sales guy) still can't spot the defect on !

Not a bad deal.
