Hi, I have a 79 l82 4 speed. I have a vibration at all rpm's and just sitting in idle with the clutch in or out it doesnt change. The vibration worsens as the rpms rise the shifer and car shake pretty violently above 3500 rpms. Ive changed the balancer, plugs wires distributor, new tranny mount, and it didnt change the vibration at all. I know its not the tires or drive shaft because it vibrates while im parked. If i step on the gas when im stopped the vibrtion is felt as the rpms rise also. I have no idea what else to do. So any help is appretiated.

Can you give us some more background? Any work done on the car recently? Is this a daily driven car? Did it just start suddenly happening or has it progressively gotten worse?

My first guess would be a worn pilot bushing or seized pilot bearing. Very cheap part but requires either pulling out the tranny or engine to replace.

The vibration on mine was due to a busted drivers side motor mount.

ive done all the work mentioned in my original post. but the vibration was there before i started any work on it. the vibration didnt get better or worse from any of the work ive done also. its been there since i bought it 2 years ago. rj

I agree - sound like motor mounts. Get under there and check both sides.
