Default rechroming costs??

What is a reasonable price to get a pair of side exhaust covers rechromed? I've asked a few people around here and they seem to think it might be pretty expensive. Wondering if it would be cheaper to buy new ones. Or if I should find a pair of used ones that need to be refinished.

Thanks

It cost around 375 to get all 6 pieces of mine rechromed. They look great, but don't have the black in the rib area.

AC Plating in CA did them. Top notch work.

What'ca going to do with your old ones? I would be interested in them. I can't wait to get the fiberglass covers off of mine.

Getting parts rechromed is sometimes more expensive than buying new.

You are probably looking at 1/3-1/2 the cost as stripping off the old plating and then prep'ing the surfaces to be able to show a high chrome luster. To get a nice chrome "shine" you need to finish the surface to at least 600+ grit, maybe even go to 1200 if it's cast metal. More expense (labor) is involved if the parts are pitted or rusted into the base metal.
