My 72 454 Vette has a 4 speed transmission, car starts up fine, runs great, 4 speed transmission works well, clutch? clutch works very well, no slippage, I drive the car for about a half hour in the city no problem, the problem starts after a half hour, I'm in neutral put it in first start to release the clutch I get a slight shudder, if I give more gas and release the clutch a lot quicker a less of a shutter, once again it only does this after driving the car in the city for over half an hour. please advise, and don't tell me I have to pull the motor to check the clutch?

Sounds to me like the flywheel need to be re-surfaced. After a while, the face of the flywheel will get a glazed surface, and when it gets hot, it will cause the clutch to jump some.
Your clutch itself is probably OK, but if you pull it all out, I would replace the clutch plate and throwout bearing.
Hope this helps!
