Default Diesel Oil in Gasoline Engine

How many use diesel oil in their engines. Diesel oil can be used in a gasoline engine, and, from what I read, it has lubricity ratings beyond gasoline oil, is near synthetic in character, and has extended drain intervals - if you want - and good cleaning qualities. Been running Delo 400 for about a year now with good results. Oil looks as clean coming out as going in.

That's really interesting. I've never heard of this. What are the limitations? It sounds almost too good to be true. Is there a catch?

It is very true. Diesel oil breaks down much slower than automotive gasoline water cooled engine oil.

Matter of fact diesel engine oil is THE ONLY oil recommended by Harley-Davidson to substitute thier line of air cooled engine oils in an emergency.

Just make sure you use the correct weight as usual.

The 15w40 EOK/2 oil came out in the 70's and is just fine for use in all internal combustion engines . It was first intended for use in large displacement turbocharged diesel engines, but it has seen wide spread usage in both gas and compression ignition applications . I have used it for a long time in all my vehicles . I used both the delo and rotella brands with equal satisfaction . It keeps engines ultra clean .

If you really want to jump out there try Mobile Delvac 1 @ $25 per gal. My Duramax takes 2.5 gals. :D

We're not breaking new ground here. Myself and lots of friends have been using diesel oil for over 35 years now.
I use it in all my cars, not just the Vette.
I've been using Exxon/Esso XD-3 for 35 + years. Some friends use the Shell version.

In the '60s, GM recommenced this oil in HP engines.

I'm not saying it's any better than a synthetic, just saying it's really great oil, and costs a lot less than synthetic.
