Oil Gage Sealing
A while back someone posted a slick trick to seal up the oil line of a mechanical oil pressure gage. Something about slipping a tube over the line, and sealing the fittings with RTV. Anyone have a suggestion or trick as insurance against interior oil leaks???

I'm not sure why you'd want to. The oil tube to gage is a flared fitting, so it either leaks or it doesn't, and I wouldn't think think any amount of "sheathing" would keep it from leaking, if that happened.

Re: Oil Gage Sealing (sray454)
Someone posted a trick a while back that I can't find in the archives. It's a process that insures containment of the oil in case the fitting or tube ruptures. Something about an additional plastic tube/sleeve around the gage oil line with rtv at the gage fitting. The sleeve is left open in the engine compartment. If it leaks, the open end of the sleeve inside the engine bay drips the oil...not inside on your gages or carpet.
Sound like good insurance.
