Dark road, hit the high beams, bam, no headlights....
So I'm out for a nice spring night time drive. I turn down an unknown road, dark and curvy. I hit the brights, and the lights go dead. Nothing. I couldn't see two feet in front of the hood, but somehow managed to find a driveway. I sat there for a moment. I flicked the high beam switched a few times. Still, nothing.
I was able to make it back on the road, with my hazards on. I drove until I was back on the street lit roads. And I headed home. Not two seconds after made it back to the lighted streets, my headlights popped back on. Brights and everything. So I turned the brights off.
I didn't mess with the headlights again, until I got home. Then, I flashed the brights on and off, with no problems.
I'm thinking it was the circuit breaker inside the switch. Maybe it sensed an overload.
What do you guys think?
By the way, my heart started back up, maybe ten minutes ago. :U

Can't help you with your problem but can commiserate.
Dated a chick whose dad had and XKE roadster; you'd be flying down the road and hit a bump: NO LIGHTS! She forgot to tell me that....

do your windows leak or did you have any moisture in the bottom?
Mine will get really fussy if the carpet is a bit damp since the switch is below the carpet.
Ill got to switch on the high beams and they go dead, push the thing a few times and they will work right.
But if i stab it really fast with my foot, it wont do that.
The switch is really only 9 or 10 bucks though, so you could just get another one if it happens again.

On the '77, the dimmer switch is on the column, not the floor. So I'm not sure moisture is the issue.
