Great work on the details.

I would leave the bezels alone. reason, I am assuning they are body color and if you are planing a repaint to same color, then only light sanding and prep would be required vs having to remove whatever you put over it now.

Just my two cents.

Why   did this come in at the top????

Kevin,

I'll try to recall what colors I painted the parts as I don't have the paper I wrote them down on with me. Keep in mind that this is NOT NCRS.

Main support bracket - Rustoleum Satin Black
Underside of headlight door - Plasi-kote Aluminum Engine Enamel
Support rods - Krylon Chrome Silver paint (just for a change up)
Stop bracket, linkage pieces (except the middle aluminum linkage) and linkage bracket - Rustoleum Gloss Black
Aluminum linkage - Polished then Clear Engine Enamel
Headlight holders - Dupli-color Gloss Engine Enamel
Back of bezel - Krylon Satin Black enamel that I had lying around
Actuator canister - Eastwood Titanium (I thought it would look better than the original gold cad plated look)
I also cleaned and blackened the main springs with the Eastwood metal blackening and sealer solutions that I had left over from a prior project.

I used so many different paints so that it didn't look like it just got blasted with paint.

Default A Light Refreshing

In my continuing effort to detail everything that no one will ever see I am refreshing my headlights.

Here is how it was when it came out:

Here is the afters:

All of the steel parts got an acid bath and wire brushing. Then they were painted with zinc rich primer and various shades of black (satin, semi-gloss and gloss) and metalic (aluminum, silver and titanium) paint. I replaced all of the hardware with stainless steel and replaced the actuator seal and dust boot. The bearings and axle sleeves were cleeaned and lubricated. Since all of the headlights were from different manufacturers they were replaced also.

I tried cleaning the bezels (polished and waxed) but they still look a little old and have a few nicks. I have several choices of what to do and would like a little help making my choice. I won't be able to paint the exterior of the car for several years and can always repaint them the body color at that time if I don't like it.

I'm almost done with the other side. I did them one at a time so I had a model for reassembly. The bezel on that one is worse than this one.

Dayum, those look great. Makes me wish I had done something like this to mine while I had the chance. Good work indeed.
