Great gentlemen I believe I will purchase the 200-4r next week. About the 400, it is my understanding that the only difference as far as bolt in is that the yoke for the 400 is different. Will need a yoke from a 350 turbo or naturally a 200-4r. thanks again for helping me to decide.

Call Bowtie Overdrives. They can tell you instantly whether the 200-4R can replace the TH400 without moving the crossmember or cutting the driveshaft.

Just make sure you set the TV cable up correctly and it will work great.

Default 200-4R who's done it?

Would like to hear from those that have retrofitted the 200-4R into there shark. I hav a 79 and am looking to install an OD tranny. I have done a 700-R4 into a 77 so I have a pretty good idea on that model. But there seems to be some different stories on the 200-4R and whether it is a direct bolt in for the 350 or not.

:)

Yup...direct bolt on...
Better, actually!
On mine there was an adapter plate on the original tranny to fit to the crossmember...on the 200-4R it just bolted right in...

:iagree: 200-4R is indeed a direct bolt-in. If you've done the 700R4, you'll find this one even easier!
