I'm eliminating the reverse lights and putting in wiring pig tails so I'll have 4 tail lights and brake lights. I can't get the 2 new lights to function properly
left side is on but will not flash with turn signal or brakes. right side is not on but it will flash with turn signal and brakes. I've tried turning the bulbs around, not the problem.. Do I need to replace the metal sleeves that hold the bulb and pig tail ?

Sounds like you have one or more crossed wires. Are you installing a bubble light kit or is this your own set up. I'm not sure if they are the same but I installed the bubble lights on my '77 and had the same problem. What I found was the colors in the directions did not match mine. Switched some wires and they work fine.

I am not sure but I think to have to change the type of bulb, need same ones as the brake/blinker bulbs.

You need to look at the bulbs and the fitting. We had a similar issue with a friends trailer.

Do you have dual contact sockets and #1157 dual filament bulbs?
