Carbon fiber center console plate
I had an extra plate of carbon fiber so I had to do something with it... So I thought to make new center console plate... This is what I came up:
New plate in car looks like this:
At the same time I decided to restore the AC / heater system in center console. I took it totally apart and repainted all necessary parts and replaced the wires. That was not too bad job and it looks a lot better now!
Here is the system totally in parts:
And here it is assembled:
The Chevy sign I got from my friend, it's made from stainless steel and I just brightened it. At least I can now restore the original center console plate whenever I have time... :smash:

Looks really nice!
How hard is it to work with the fiber carbon? I have some ideas on my Vette rebuild that may include using fiber carbon.
Thanks!

Re: Carbon fiber center console plate (matchframe)
Working with CF is not that hard. It will eat a lot of saw blades and drills, but otherwise it's OK. Bad thing is that it's easy to get delamination near edges, you can see it from my first pic near the holes... And you have to be careful with the sharp edges, there is usually a lot of sharp fibers sticking out before sanding... :smash:

Just want to add , when you play around with carbon fiber make sure you use good personal protection, mask, gloves and overalls, and lots of ventilation. Its nasty stuff for your lungs, and the tiny slivers will migrate in your system through your skin. Keep the dust down with water when sanding......looks cool!!!

That is really nice.
And it also got my brain cells firing and now I have a sweet idea about how to get a B&M shifter into my car while keeping a sanitary look. Gotta go get a piece of sheet aluminum... :leaving:

That looks real good. I cut out templates made of cardboard for my camaro console and took it to a metals place and they cut it out perfectly.
