Vette fever among toddlers
I was in a residential neighborhood a few blocks from my house and there was a little tyke, that couldn't have been even 2 years old out in front of the house playing with his toy mower. he saw me driving past in the vette and instantly stopped and starred as i drove past. pretty cool i thought since he was too young to be influenced by others. he just liked what he saw.

 A few times I have been cruising down the street and heard young kids yell out in excitement "Wow Daddy look at that car!"

Last week I was in the garage at night working on the interior with the garage door up. A group of 4-5 kids (12-15 yrs old) walked past and one of them said "wow, check out that stingray, it's sweet".
I couldn't help but grin at hearing that.

At cruise nights I let the tykes sit in and grab the steering wheel. The vroom-vroom sounds from them are heartening.

I get the biggest kick out of the younger ones who just stare at the body sitting on the dolly!
The olders one always have a story to share about their hot rodding days, and I always stop my work to listen.
I have the best time in my garage!

There's no better way to get the young people involed in the hobby than letting one of them sit in your car. I do the same thing. If you shoo the kids away from the car, a Corvette will become something they don't like when they grow up.

My son is 15 months old, and loves to stand in the front seat with hands on the wheel and make car sounds. I've got a ton of pictures of him doing this, or standing along side with his hands on the car. He doesn't do this with any of our other vehicles.
One of his first words is "carrrrrrrr" as he points to it.
God I love that kid!

A couple summers ago my wife was going through the drive-thru at BK with her 96 SS Camato and a little tyke was walking in with his dad and the little one goes (in an excited voice) " hey dad it's a Lamborghini". We got some laughs over that one. She still likes to tell the story.

I bought my '78 six years ago, the year before my son was born. At the time I needed the project and really started to dig in. When I found out I was going to be a Dad I knew my spare time would go to nothing. Sure enough, it did. Now I am finally able to get back to working on my car but I tell you who the biggest fan of the vette is; my son. He WORSHIPS that car!! The car has spent the last 13 months getting painted but last month came back home. This past weekend I finally got it legal to drive so he was the first to sit in my lap and take it around the block with me. When we pulled back into the garage he made it all worthwhile when he said "Is this a dream that we have our Corvette back?". I think I have created a shark lover for life and could not be more proud.

That is a cool story. Im sure your son will drive it someday. My son is 8 years old. He told me he is next in line for ownership. I hope I can keep it in the family. My daughter is 17 and she already wants it.

My 2 1/2 year old grabbed the wheel while sitting in my lap before he was able to crawl. He too likes sitting behind the wheel even now.

Great story! I always appreciate a thumbs up or a wave from a future Corvette owner too. I got the Corvette bug when I was 6 when my 18 year old next door neighbor bought a new '61. Never forgot seeing my first Corvette up close way back when.

At one time many years ago I was contemplating selling the Vette, even had some dude come by to drive it. My son (who was 2 at the time) saw the other guy drive it away (for a test drive) and started crying and running after the Vette.
When the guy got back, I convinced him that its not the car he wants. :) Not getting rid of it ever now.

Our 10 year old daughter is scared to ride in it.
Don't know if that is a good or bad thing... :leaving:
