Just curious. What do you think of the color? My 69 was originally Riverside Gold and I am in the process of restoring it, but don't know if I will go back to that color. I wonder why it was used only one year. Since I plan to keep the car, my wife says to paint it a color I like. She thinks the gold color looks a boring beige. Just wonder what others think. :cheers:

Do yourself a favor. If your restoring it, paint it the original color. If it was R/S Gold, go with that.

I agree with the other posters. Riverside Gold is a beautiful color that you rarely see on many '69's at all. It's a nice deep gold, nowhere near beige. Plus, you've got probably the 3rd most valuable '69 (only behind the L-88 and L-89). I personally think that it would be financial suicide to paint it a non-original color. But here's where all the "it's your car, do it however you want to" folks are going to jump in. :rolleyes:

My 69 was originally a River Side Gold car. It had been painted 1 time before I purchased the car to silver. I had a real hard time making the choice of what color to repaint it when I restored it. I really like the color of River Side Gold don't get me wrong but I decided against it. Like others have said it all depends on what you want the final car to be. Its a personal thing.
You have a hard decision to make and once you make it you are stuck with it.

I'm nearing this same decision point on my '72, which was original War Bonnet Yellow - which is VERY similiar to Riverside Gold. I REALLY like Steel Cities Grey, but I've been told a non-original color basically hurts the value of the car by the cost of a repaint ( 4-5K), so I'm probably gonna go back to original.

I panted it something I liked not what someone else thinks it should look like.

My 76 was originally yellow, but as a former NYC cab driver I couldn't live with a yellow car. I had mine done in C4 metallic red. I think it looks awesome and get compliments where ever I go. I doubt in my case it hurts the value because I have the original Bubba ... a 76 with a 78 rear clip. When I had the body redone they put a 76 rear window back in, but it's still the wrong clip. Guess I'll just have to keep it forever :cheers:

I don't have the big block, but I do have a '69 Riverside Gold Vette. True, it's a one of a kind color, but I get a lot of compliments on it. You'll notice that it looks different colors in different light. Stick with the original. :crazy:

I have a WarBonnet yellow Lt1 now and its similar to the Riverside gold, and I get more compliments than you would believe, I also had a red 69 L71 and an Ontario Orange 71 convertible and the Orange and Yellow get lots more looks than the Red 69 I had, probably because you dont see those colors everyday.

My '69 was originally Riverside Gold. I have restored the car to original, but couldn't bring myself to going with that shade of gold. Just too mustardy for me. I picked a GM color called 'Firemist Gold' (painted in 1999, and it was a factory color that year). I think it really looks nice, and I get lots of compliments.

my baby was originally met blue then someone painted it black and did a very ordinary job :U , i am repainting her and my wife and i absolutely love riverside gold so thats the colour we are going with and with the chrome rims it will set off nicely. so does anybody actually know the paint recipe for it :cheers:

Here's a picture I took at the Houston Corvette Expo a couple of years ago of a 69 Riverside Gold Roadster. Riverside Gold was the original color of my car, (it was painted resale red when I bought it.) One of these years I'll paint it back to the original color which I love!
