tire diameter
checked my tire diameter(245/60r15)with one of the tire diameter calulators.
It checked in at 26.6ins. but if you measure it with a tape measure you get
no more than 25.5,what gives?

Different manufacturers have different measurements for the same spec ( i.e. 255/60/R15) tires.
I know that the Dunlop 255/60R15s are not as wide as the old Remington XT-120s of the same size that I took off the car.
The Tire Rack has measurement spec info on each tire and youll notice the sizes vary slightly from mfgr to mfgr.
