i just replaced my half shaft u joints and dont want to out back on the stock straps. i was looking at the moroso girdels but dont know if they will fit my 81 automatic. anyone using them now and can tell me about them. or is there any other comapny that makes them for my car. thanks :grouphug:

I'm not sure about what Moroso makes, but VanSteel has a Heavy Duty strap kit for both auto and manual trans for your model. The part number is HS-28 and it looks like you get 8 HD straps, bolts, drill bit and tap. I've been researching this for my '80. I checked out the rear a month ago and just realized how puny those straps are, and the VanSteel kit looks like it would strengthen things a bit back there. Let me know what you do if you get there before I do. Good luck!

Shoot them an e-mail. They have billet u-joint caps for your halfshafts, although they don't appear anywhere on the siet.

thanks for the info at van steel, i went and looked it up :shocked: 230.00 just for straps. i need somthing a little more in my price range. but thanks anyway

I think they're kind of high myself, but in the absence of anything else I may try them. If you find something comparable for less, I'd be interested. I'll keep looking in the meantime.
