Can any old school hot rodders explain this?
It looks pretty neat, but I'm not sure of the function.

Mike,
To me it looks like it can only be some sort of a blower manifold from a 40 year old dragster that used a crank driven Potvin supercharger. They used to mount them like that to give the driver a better view ( in a front engined car) also less junk in his face if the blower chucked a rod. Could have also been used in a streamliner from Bonneville, to keep the overall height of the car low. BTW I loved OK City when I was there in June last year, would like to come back some time for a more relaxed visit.

I may be wrong, but it looks like the manifold used with a turbo-charger. One intake port used for the forced air induction, and the other used for the fuel mixture.
The thing in front does look like a drive port for a blower, but there is not enough room for the blower blades above the lifter valley.
I would be interested to find out what exactly it is!
