Yes...Another "I HATE CUSTOMAUTO SOUND" Thread!
I just have to say, if anyone still thinks their USA-1-2-3-4-whatever sounds good/o.k. You're FOOLING YOURSELF!!!
I just swapped out my head unit with a $135 JVC from Best Buy. I didn't even touch my speakers, and all I have to say is....
OOOOOH MYYYYY GOOOOOOD!!!!!!
It sounds soooooooooooooooooooooo much better!!!
Don't walk, RUN to your nearest audio store and ditch that Piece of crap ratty old worthless no good fore flushing sack of monkey spunk custom auto sound and finally hear how music was supposed to be heard! (I better stop before I say how I really feel.)
Now...Can I get an Amen from those who know what I'm talking about?

Were you able to get the JVC with the adjustable shafts to fit our dashs?

You could always get the new consoles that have the DIN hole already cut into it. I replaced mine with a JVC standard DIN because mine was already cut up. I think the pre-cut ones run about $85(?) or so.

i work at bestbuy, and we actually sell units that you can mount under the glovebox, and it can hang from there. that way you can have the radio up front and not have to cut up the dash

I have a top shelf Eclipse, ALpine and boston acoustic system in my ride and I have heard the top of the line auto sound system. It's not even in the same ballpark.
Take that back it's like comparing a Civic to a Ferrari.

Those custom autosounds are a complete and utter rip-off. I didn't even keep mine when I yanked it out- threw it in a Goodwill box. I couldn't have sold it to someone with a clear conscience.

And this is the solution I am working towards.

I sent my original AM/FM/Stereo factory radio to Mike Hagan Radio Restorations. They gut the original radio and convert it to ditgial, wire it for either two or four speakers, and install a jack in the rear for a CD changer.
I just installed it last week and it will blow you right out of the car. The radio reception is just unbelievable. Now I can drive with the top down and hear the radio.

OH SCHITT... I have a NEW one at the house... bought it two years ago before I decided to do a frame off... YOU mean for $135 this thing SUCKS.... DAMN IT... If I have to RE-BUY one more part for this car ... I am going strangle a vendor! I hate when you buy something that is said to be one thing then turns out to be SCHITT>>>> Why not just sell something that works and charge a little more money? If I ran busines like this at work.... I WOULD BE LOOKING THROUGH THE WANT ADDS... :cuss

My car had one of these installed in it when I bought it. It sucks, I could have done better by going to Auto Zone and picking up a $25 Spark-O-Matic (remember those?) and it would sound better. I am glad I didn't buy the POS. I never listen to the radio when I am driving my Vette anyway because I need to keep my ear out for any "new noises".  It is cool having CORVETTE written on it though.
