Default 200-4R Question...

Got a bowtie level two 200-4R OD tranny installed...
...shifting points set...
shifting through 1->2->3 works fine...
If I try to drive in 'D' (where OD is enabled)...it shifts into OD at about 30mph and sets the whole car a' rattlin!
Any ideas on how to fix it...or what might be wrong?

PS...OT--Today the wife said 'If you don't quit workin on that car all day, you're gonna run outta things to do!'

That seems to be the way it works. Generally, what I do is lock out 4th (ie., keep it in 3rd) until I get on the freeway...then I let OD do its thing. And you and I aren't the only ones who've experienced this. Think of it as being "semi-automatic". Been doing it this way for 2 years and I don't even think about it anymore... :steering:

Offhand it sounds like the throttle linkage needs adjusting...tighten it up a bit....put more tension on the cable by adjusting the cable schroud....

page62: Thanks...was wondering about that...so you use '3' like 'D' and just shift into 'D' (OD) above 60 or so?
I'm kinda gettin used to it too...except when I forget the extra gear and put it in neurtal instead of reverse!

Gene: That's what I thought too...but throttle fiddling made no differences...

I put a switch that prevents the converter from locking. When I am driving over 45 I simple hit the switch and everything is fine. If I end up slowing down I can turn the switch off. When GM first started putting OD in cars and trucks they had a statement in the owners manual that said not to use the OD under 45mph or in hilly areas (ie: use 3rd,D). The chugging is from the converter being locked (BTO said it is the same as not letting out on the clutch with a manual trans).

:yesnod: I only use OD on the highway. Using OD below 60-65 mph is the #1 cause of premature tranny failures.
