Jan Barry of Jan & Dean fame, famous as a "surfer music" duo during the sixties, died a few days ago. He was very critically iunjured in his Corvette Stingray in the early '60s and never fully recovered.

The irony of the crash is that it replicated in real life one of their most famous hit songs..."Deadman's Curve." For those of you who are unfamiliar with the song, it is about a fueler Stingray and an XKE Jag racing through the streets of Los Angeles. The song was a huge hit in its day and has long been an icon of Surfer/Corvette music.

Not long after the hit was recorded and became famous, Jan Barry was driving his own Corvette Stingray at a high rate of speed very close to the intersection where where the song's crash had occurred. The accident involved Barry's own Corvette vs a landscaper's truck -- with the Corvette, and Berry, receiving the heavy damage. It was a sad day for those of us who enjoyed their music.......

They're on the Forum's server...are you sure you have your profile's configuration set to "show images while browsing"??

A picture of an almost unrecognizable Corvette and an old picture of
Jan & Dean should appear directly under my initials (TC) on the post.

In addition to the other suggestion, you may want to try refreshing the page to see if that will bring up the images for you. If you don't have any luck, e-mail me and I'll send the pictures directly to your e-mail address... Same for anyone else having a problem.... :cheers:

I DONT SHOW ANY PHOTO OF A WRECKED CORVETTE AND I CHECKED MY SETTINGS AND THERE SET TO ''SHOW PICTURES'' SO I DONT UNDERSTAND WHATS GOING ON HERE DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM(SEEING THE PHOTO OF JAN BERRYS WRECKED CORVETTE???

I'm sending you the picture by e-mail. They should arrive shortly.

The photos were added to my sig file and that seems to be the hangup
for some of you who have the "show images" option not activated....

To change this setting.....

1. From the main page, you need to click on "forums" -- any forum..

2. The page that comes up has a darker blue section at left. Click on "My profile."

3. The next page will show "User options" Click on that...

4. The next page will show a window "Do not use signature images" click on the arrow.

5. Find the "Show signature images" line. Click on that.

6. Be sure to scroll down the page and click on "save"

7. For those with a slow computer, be sure to reset your user options back to "Don't show signature images" when finished....

I've discovered adding pictures the way they were placed isn't a workable option for everyone.

:banghead: :banghead: I think having them in your sig might be the problem for some...I didn't realize by glancing at them that they were part of your sig when I earlier suggested that some should check their "show images" configuration. :banghead: :banghead:

Under your profile/configurations there is a separate setting for showing sig pics. If you have "show images" enabled or not while you have your "show signatures" off you WILL NOT see the pics as posted....ya'll that are having trouble may want to check to see if you have the signature pics disabled under your configuration.

To make it simpler I have linked his sig pics to the body of this post...should make it simpler to see without changing your sig pic configuration.

wow...amazing.
When I was in high school there was an accident with several kids in a 1963 Corvette. They were hit broadside at high speed and the car was broken in half. I saw the car on a flatbed truck...it was amazing. All the kids were killed...4-5 in a Corvette as I remember.
