Default Offer on my Vette

Took my Vette to work and drove all over the North Island Base, pretty drive, planes taking off and all that rot. Any way as I was leaving work some CDR (Pilot) asked about the 68, he has a 87. And offered me 16K. I obviously didn't take the offer but got me thinking if I invest in;

so so paint job $3000
replate rear bumpers and lower front bumper grills/ inserts - $250
E-Bay carb + LARS - $150
e-BAY Intake - $50
E-Bay fan/ clutch - $75
assorted fuel lines - $100
cermaic coated headers and walker chambered exhaust 2.5" - $600

That should fetch me $20,000 since that's all that separates the car from being dead stock (save the coil-overs, headers) and show condition.

thoughts?

Seems like you just got it, but I know the feeling everytime I see a nice 67.

I don't have the same feeling I had for the 70 or 77. Not sure I love the car but if someone offered thr right amount I'd take it, have 14.5K in her. But ready to move up to a 58-60.

Bummer.
Now, don't get all snooty on us when you do settle into a solid axle. :p:

Good luck deciding. One good thing is that it shouldn't be as emotional as the last separation.

I no where you are coming from, the '58-'60's are among my favs. But with the solid axel the ride and handle like crap compared to a Vette w/ IRS. BEAUTIFUL car though without a doubt. :yesnod:

David,
You are more finicky than me. Never thought I would meet such a person! I guess we have much in common. If you are going back here is a suggestion. The early 1960s solid axle cars are very nice but I love the Stringrays.

I'm very used to the ride of the C-1, Dad had a 60 and I remember just being 8 and waxing and going to all sorts of shows. I guess it's in my blood. I think it would be a great thing to have my Dad visit and take him for a cruise up old H-1 to Santa Monica. He never had another Vette after the 60 and I'd love to do that for him.

Well maybe a 67 BB would change my mind. No seriously I want the trunk. You can fit at least 3 Mother-in-laws in that huge thing. Try to go to Las vegas with the wife in a C-2/3 won't happen with my girl. last trip we had the Honda stuffed with enogh clothing to cloth an entire army. Now a c-1 could handle that! Just speaking out loud. It'll take at least a year till I have enough $$$ to think of 50k on a C-1.

I think you are suffering from ADD when it comes to cars. When I bought my Excursion, my neighbor Valerie said I suffered from ADD because I can't keep a car more than two years. She is right. I bought my 02 PT brand new and now I traded it on the EX. I had the Pace a little over three years and sold it. I could go on about all my other Vettes and non-Vettes, but she was right. I suffer from ADD when it comes to cars. You may have it too. That is why I researched for six months before purchasing Double Aught. I have the exact C5 I wanted. Same with the EX. My next Vette will be a BB steel bumper coupe w/manual trans. I already know exactly what I am going to do with it. What can I say? If you want the C1 bad enough, you will get it. Ask me, I know. :yesnod:

Why not go with both. Save up for a solid axle and have your C3 sitting there. The best of both worlds.
