Default Shop manuals/Restoration guides/AIM

I was looking on the ZIP website for books etc. I am going to get the GM Service Manual for my 68 and was also looking at the many guides for "Restoring your Corvette". Are there any guides out there that would be "must haves" over others? I am also planning to get some general books etc on "Rebuilding Chevy Engines" as I am a newbie to this. I'm sure there will be many things that I'll have shops do, but I am wanting to do as much as I can on my own. (Planning to redo the engine/trans/rear end).

Thanks for any advice.

Rob,

The two books that are a must are the Assembly Instruction manual, and the GM service guide. The AIM manual will not only tell you the OEM part number, but it will also show you where the part belongs on the car. The Aim is the book that GM used to build the car... How could you go wrong. You should be able to pick one up for around 17.00.

Don’t waste your money on Chilton’s or other books like it. Get the original GM Service manual.

It’s a shame that Noland Adams has not done a book on the 68 up cars. Noland’s knowledge of the earlier cars is far superior to anyone I know.

There's also a Chassis Overhaul Manual from GM for '68. It gets a bit more in depth for rebuilding components, engine, trans, etc. the NCRS judging manual for '68-'69 is also very helpful. Richard Prince's book on '68-'82 is very good because it has lots of pictures for reference as well as descriptions.
The AIM is the book I use the most.

The Bizzoco book is perhaps the best detailed source for the 68-69 years.
