1980 pulls under braking
I just noticed tonight that my car has started to pull to the left when I brake. I never noticed it before. Where should I start my investigation? Pads? Master cylinder?

If it pulls to the left then go to the right. The general theory is that the car will pull to the side that is working properly. A caliper on the right front is more than likely the source of the problem. Turn the front wheels to the right and check the back side of the tire for brake fluid. You may have a caliper leaking on the car. If it is leaking there is a good chance that there will be brake fluid on the back side of the tire. If the caliper is leaking check to see where it’s leaking at before you order new calipers. A lot of calipers are replaced that don’t need to be.
You can spray the caliper with “Brake Dry”. This will evaporate all the fluid that has formed around the caliper. Then keep start the car. Pump the pedal over and over again. Shut off the car and look at the seam where the caliper half’s are put together. If it is leaking in the half, replace the o-ring that seals them.

Double check the upper control arm studs (where the shims go). My car had a pull under braking and I found that the left side loose - and the shims had fallen out.
