I'm dissapointed in the performance, but I don't have the money for a top end rebuild just yet.....or headers for that matter. :leaving:
New distributor?
Coil?
Wires?
Plugs, what gap?
What advance should I run, and what can I do to the distributor to do it?
I'm more used to EFI, sorry :bb

Anyways, the problem is you have 'smog' heads. They're making about 8.5:1 compression with 113cc chambers and 2:06 / 1:72 stock valves and the cam is probably not helping much either. :nonod:
The best would be a cam.......but if you're just doing 'mild' upgrades I'm sure others here will advise on Taylor wires, carb. upgrade or replacement, and if you have points - an HEI conversion. ;)

Not much you can do without some bux...you obviously know that speed = money. Prolly the best you can do with no bux is get your timing right. Make sure you get all 36-38 degrees in by 2500 rpm with no pinging. Lars has a paper on this. Adjust your carb too.
If you can rob a bank or knock over an armored car, get some headers, good dual exhaust, intake and carb. That'd be a good start.

Since you've got an automatic, you might verify that your transmission kick-down is working correctly. That's a real wake-up when it works.
