G-TECH round 2...getting closter to 3's
I had the oppurtunity to play on some dry pavement today so I figured i'd have another go at the 0-60.
After nothing but spinning the first few times I heated the tires a bit and babied it out of the hole just enough to give it a little gas, short shifted at around 5200rpm (WOT shiftpoint will be ~6500), laid into 2nd
and clicked off
4.2 seconds.
I'm really hoping to get into the 3's with street tires, but it will take a lot of practice!
Just for kicks i rode it out to the quarter, I just accelerated to 85 and stayed there for a 13.9 quarter. :)
I don't have enough road to get up to the speeds a full WOT quarter mile run would be. The track opens april 18th!!!

Was talking to a guy today that has the same cam installed in a 406ci similar to yours and my setup and he ran 10.8 in a 2700lb car. :D

Re: G-TECH round 2...getting closter to 3's (isosceles)
isosceles Thanks, its definetly getting closer. I haven't done any tuning yet, but I have a huge traction problem. :) I think I am going to get a set of 10" slicks for another set of rims I have, then we'll see how it does out of the hole. :reddevil
Motorhead Sorry to hear about your woes with the 406. Those times are great, I had a full tank of gas and nearly 400lbs of passengers during these runs. :D I was hoping it would help out of the hole, but these tires just can't handle it.
I think you'll like how it runs, probably will be a lot more fun in a 4 speed, my very loose converter makes it feel like a power-boat!

Way to go, you are getting into Cobra territory now with those times. I think the one I saw at the track ran a 3.8 sec 60 time. He had just finished building it and wanted to get an idea of its potential.

Re: G-TECH round 2...getting closter to 3's (gdh)
gdh Its getting closer, but my rock hard tires aren't much help. They are a 245/45/17 with 42psi of pressure. I may drop them back to 20-25 pounds and see if that helps. I'm sure I could hook a lot better at a track, this is on a rough country road.

Wow!
Nice 0-60. I run Kumho Ectsa Supra 255/45 zr17 for 99$ and if I heat them a little bit, they won't spin off the line. But that's with 3,07 gear and stock converter. I'm putting 3.54 gear and 2500 stall so we'll see how they take the added torque.
As far as air pressure, 42 psi is a lot. I run 30 psi for daily driving and they wear a little bit more on the center. I should put 26 psi but I don't want to break a wheel in a hole.
