Paint???
First of all Hi to everyone, great forum! It's answered quite a few of my questions, but here's another....
Is there a way to get a decent paintjob without the crazy $6000 pricetag? Bodywork aside, I realize there's a lot of work involved, but when I bought my car I was thinking $3-4000. I'm not looking to restore it, or have 10 coats of lacquer on it, just a good looking paint job. Is it unreasonable or is it a get-what-you-pay-for kinda thing? Do I just suck it up and save my pennies?
Any help would be appreciated.....

I think it sorta depends on where you live and the quality you are looking for.
In these parts the prices range between $3K and $6K. There are lots of things that can go wrong, so be careful.
Gotta watch out for those fisheyes! :)

Look at my thread (77 home from the paint shop). I paid 2500 for mine (no fish eyes  ) but I also did all the disassembly (remove all glass except the windshield, all emblems, all lights and lenses, the door handles and door locks, and the complete interior, including the dash). I also told them that they could do my vette around there other jobs (bread and butter - 3 to 4 day jobs) and it wound up taking 5 months.

I guess I'll save up then get a lot of references before I pick someone. I live in NH and there's a great vette shop called John's Corvette Service he did my motor/tranny rebuild, so I'll see who he uses. If anyone's looking for work to be done in this area look him up. He's very reasonably priced, very knowledgeable and a great guy to boot.
Thanks for all the responses!
