Default Carpet Style Question

What style carpet do you have in your car? I have the option of loop or cutpile for my 70. Is one style more durable than the other? When you bought your carpet did you buy the kind with padding attached or without the padding?

80/20 is more durable and easier to clean, though Cut Pile looks a little better.

I went w/ 80/20.

I have the loop style carpet in my '70. I like the cut-pile carpet more, but I tried to keep mine original. The one thing with the loop carpet is if you try and clean a spot/stain with cleaner you can't use the plastic brush on the end of the can...it will fray the loop carpet pretty bad. I don't have to worry about this too much because my carpet is black, but if you get a lighter color it might be something to consider.

Loop here. I like the look of loop in the older C3's. I think you would be happy with either, just don't forget the floor mats. :jester

Eddie, missed you at the Expo. I went today, Sunday and found a mostly venderless situation at 10ish this morning. :(

Went with the cut pile from Last Detail. Looks nice compared to the carpet in the car. Gets too old and tired to clean. Padded is the only way to go. Minimun glue [vertical surfaces mostly]. Do the rear fender wells 1st, then the back deck [Batt and all boxes removed] then pass and driver side. Lastly the bulkhead behind the seats. You can get the right alignment for the piece if you line up the lower seam with the bottom of the bulkhead, then glue and bend over the top edge. Might have to add some rug to fill in the gap foward of the box frame. Sorry for the length if this. :smash:
