Default Steering column experts needed

In the first pic there is a hole in the bottom of the casing. Is this normal or do I need to replace it? The tilt lever housing covers it and it doesn’t look like anything’s supported by it but there is a metal rod that extends through it.

The second pic is a spring that fell out when I removed the cover, any idea where it goes? I’ve looked at all the diagrams but not really sure what it is.

Thanks

The hole is normal. The spring goes on the white plastic key warning switch. The one with the two brass conectors coming out of it.
