After-market shifter for TH-400
Has anyone installed an aftermarket shifter, i.e., Hurst or B&M, in their car? If so, which one, how did you mount it, what cable lenth, etc.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Thank you for your reply. It's obvious you had to modify the shifter plate, but can you tell me how you mounted it and if the supplied hardware was sufficient to complete the job, i.e. cable?

Re: After-market shifter for TH-400 (73 Vet)
73 Vet,
I took a piece of 2 inch wide steel and cut it so it would be long enought to bolt it in the same bolt holes that the original shifter (there is a dip that is under the original shifter and the bolts on the back of the hurst shifter would be in the middle of the dip). Then i bolted the shifter to the piece of steel. Then I bolted the piece of steel with the hurst shifter down in the factory spots. And yes Hurst gives you a cable.

Thank you Gentlemen for the information. I very much appreciate it. One last (hopefully) question: How about the electrical switch for lock-out, back-up lights, etc? Use stock one, or...............

73 Vet,
Haha i dont have back up lights.. So i couldnt tell you. on my shifter there is a little lever that you have to push to go from nutral to reverse. So its imposible to go into reverse with out using 2 hands(one to push the lever and one to push the shifter). Does that answer your question?

The Megashifter came with the needed switches and they mount to the shifter itself under the console.

Me again. Money Pit, do you know which shifter you used, i.e., 71-80 Camaro/Firebird, or 81-83? Thanks
