Cory what are you going to do to the tranny? Since you have it out replace the front seal at least. I have my th400 completely apart at the shop if you want to see the "guts"

Re: Progress report... (gtr1999)
I had a stripped thread in the pan.. its much easier to fix it out of the car then under it. I'll take a close inspection of the seal tomorrow.

Re: Progress report... (Corz)
What size are the bolts,10-32 or 1/4-20? I may have a heli-coil kit in the shop.If you don't know I can check mine tomorrow. Also check the rear yoke for wear these are hard to find now and cost about $125,they are the same yoke used on the ST-10 4 speed C3's starting in 75.
I'll be in the shop tomorrow if you have a question.

Corz, since you have that thing out, I'd suggest replacing every seal and gasket that you can get to!! Check out http://www.bulkpart.com they have the every seal and gasket you'll need for that tranny, and they have good prices and cheap shipping. Pretty good guys to deal with too!

Re: Progress report... (Corz)
Ever since I bought my 73 with the th400, I had to replace the pan gasket every year. Every spring I would find a puddle of oil under it again. I have done a lot of pan gaskets in my day and never had a problem until I bought this car. I used heli-coils on all the bolts. I finally fixed it for good. I drained the oil and put the trans in a crate in the back of the garage.  Did I say how much I like my 200-4R. :D
