Default 78 Tilt/Telescope?'ssssss

1) It looks like the plate that locks the column is bent. It locks on one half of the turn and not on the other. I guess I could remove it again and put it on a flat surface.
2) I noticed on the detail that there is two plastic bushings and a piece of rubber hose after the cancelling cam retainer. The it shows a clip and the spring for the horn assembly. I missing that clip, what does it look like? Where can I buy it.
3) What makes the column telescope lock. I turn the lever and it still moves in and out.
Thanks

Problem 1) I think I resolved. The C clip that retains the locking plate is two sided. One side it flat and other side has a relief on half of it. The reliefed part of the clip is pushing the lock plate out on one side. At least I hope that is the problem.

The only place that I have found that sells the large C-clip is Dr. Rebuild. Go to his websight and look at the blowup drawing on page 158. The part is labeled "F" 69-82 Upper Steering Shaft Lock Plate Mtg Clip "U" Shaped 6521124 $7.60 Make note that his websight says that pricing may not be uptodate.

His blowup drawing is quite good with respect to the parts in a T&T column.

On the lower blowup drawing shown on page 156.
Your telescope locking ring is attached to a "star" screw "E".

Now go back to page 158.
The "star" screw pushes on "RR" 78-82 Upper Shaft Lock Rod 6521532 $10.20. The lock rod ***** a locking wedge "TT" 69-82 Shaft Locking Wedge 6521176 $11.95.

You need all of these parts to make your shaft lock.

Jim,
Looks like I misplaced that internal rod. I also think that clip that GM shows on their detail is the upper bearing retaining clip.
Thanks,
Buddy
