Default E-Bay mysteries

How often does someone hijack an E-bay vendor? This is a bit too good to be true. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2469269920

let me solve the mystery for you. Read the auction description carefully. The seller is selling a list. He is not selling the wheels. Read his feedback, which is amazinly positive. Reminds me of the guy who sold the XBox Box for something like $300.... just the box... MJ

this guy is scum. I took a gander at his feedback and it's clear this guy is a scammer - also seems foreign judging by his writing. Take a look at his personal profile by clicking on the "me" icon and get a good laugh. What a moron. If I knew who he was and where he lived I'd pistol whip him.

Read his feedback, which is amazinly positive.
Postive feedback points would be an easy thing to bump up if you're crook:
Register under a number of different Ebay user names (supposedly illegal by Ebay rules) then post a number of items for a low starting bid under the name you want to inflate the points for, and then place winning bids by all your aliases. All the alias's then leave you positive feedback with very favorable comments. If you don't have the time or inclination to register a bunch of bogus aliases, have all your crook friends place winning bids under the names of all their aliases. Make it a private auction if you don't want anyone following up on you. Unfortunately the feedback system isn't fool proof, but its better than nothing.

In my early ebay bidding days I often suspected that my automatic bids were being run up by shillers. This has driven me to sniping any time I have any serious intentions on winning an auction. I won't bid on items that are put up for sale by certain sellers no matter how tempting because of things that I've noticed that didn't add up in some of their previous auctions. I also won't bid on private auctions because I want to know who I am bidding against.

Unfortunately, there is a portion of the human race that would rather work harder to climb a tree to cheat you than they would just standing on the ground to treat you honstly.

You can always run up your positive feedback by being a good buyer....

That would be much too expensive!! That's the route that I've been taking. I might think of ways to cheat the system sometimes but I never act on those ideas. Honesty is always the most effortless policy!!
